14. future tenses of verbs

Future tenses are even simpler than the past tenses. The only verb having its own uncomposed future tense is byti (to be). Please, learn it.

budu
I will be
 budeme
we will be
 budeš
you will be
 budete
you will be
 bude
he/she/it will be
 budut
they will be

  1. The future tense is created by the personal future form of the verb byti (to be) and the infinitive.

    example:

budu pisati = I will write
budeme dielati = we will do
budeš slyšeti = you (sg.) will hear

  2. As an optional alternative, You may use the verb hotieti (to want) instead of the verb byti (to be).

    example:

hoču pisati = I will write, I want to write
hočeme dielati = we will do, we want to do
hočeš slyšeti = you (sg.) will hear
    , you want to hear

prior future tense

This is the future tense being before another future event. This additional future tense is created by the personal future form of the verb byti (to be) and the L-participle.

example:

budu pisal = I will write
budeme dielali = we will do
budeš slyšel = you (sg.) will hear

symmetric system of Neoslavonic future, present and past tenses

If we do not assume a simplified system with only one past tense (either simple or composed), we can define the complex symmetric system of six tenses in three time levels: the future level and the present level and the past level.
  1. future tense (e.g. budu dielati, budeš dielati, ...) - this is some time in the future
  2. prior-future tense (e.g. budu dielal, budeš dielal, ...) - this is another auxiliary time just before the future tense, but related to the future tense

  3. present tense (e.g. dielaju, dielaješ, ...) - this is the actual time of the present
  4. prior-present tense (e.g. jesm dielal, jesi dielal, ...) - this is another auxiliary time just before the present tense, but related to the present tense

  5. past tense (e.g. dielah, dielaše, ...) - this is some time in the past
  6. prior past tense (e.g. bieh dielal, bieše dielal, ...) - this is another auxiliary time just before the past tense, but related to the past tense

example of the present time level:
Hvalime Vas, že jeste razdielili otpad.  Thank you for sorting waste. - thanking = present, sorting = prior-present.

the same example moved to the future time level:
Budeme Vas hvaliti, že budete razdielili otpad.  We will thank you for sorting waste. - thanking = future, sorting = prior-future.

the same example moved to the past time level:
Hvalihom Vas, že bieste razdielili otpad.  We did thank you for sorting waste. - thanking = past, sorting = prior-past.

It is obvious, that the relationship between thanking and sorting is the same in all three examples: Sorting first, thanking after.
